Sighting!



First of the season: Cedar Waxwings have been sighted in San Mateo!
 
Named for its red wax-like wing tips and affinity for eating small cones off cedar trees.
 
Size:   7 ½”
Nesting:   Cup: 1 – 2 broods a year
Eggs:   4-6 pale blue with brown markings
Incubation:   10-12 days
Fledging:  14-18 days
Migration:  Partial to non-migratory
Food:   Fruit, berries, insects
